Good Will Hunting Paper Assignment: Psychology of Personality Character Analysis through a Theory Specific Lens

Watch the movie “Good Will Hunting.”

Following the movie, you will attempt to apply two different personality theories (from the text) to the character of Will Hunting. Choose two theories that are quite different from each other. We may or may not have covered the theory in class at this point.

From a theory specific lens, you will describe Will’s behavior. For each theory, you will be asking the question, “Why does Will behave that way?” Each of the two theories will have different ways of viewing and interpreting Will’s behavior. Compare and contrast the two theories throughout your paper. A detailed analysis of specific behaviors exhibited in the movie, aided by knowledge of the character’s background, will aid you in this endeavor. Be specific, and use various examples to illustrate.

Papers should be approximately 3 pages in length, not to exceed 5 pages. Although the primary source of theory information will be in your text, students are encouraged to utilize additional resources and document them appropriately using APA writing style guidelines. All papers are double-spaced, use 1 inch margins (top, bottom, left, right), and Times New Roman 12-point font. Check spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. The writing center in the library can aid you in becoming a better writer.
This is an individual assignment. There is a minimum of three references. Cite/document your external sources to avoid plagiarism. One reference can be the textbook, another can be the movie. Safe Assign will be used to check papers for plagiarism.
